9th Grade Student Support

Each class is assigned a Counselor, Social Worker/Chemical Health Specialist, Assistant Principal and Grade Level Coordinator at the beginning of each school year. These individuals support students in a variety of ways.

Counselors provide individual and group counseling oriented toward personal, educational, vocational, and social emotional growth. They assist students with registration, course selection, program modification, and post-high school planning and advocate for the student in relationships with teachers, peers, parents, and outside agencies 

Social Workers and Chemical Health Specialists help students with social and emotional needs, are a liaison to county/private agencies and act as parent/teacher consultants. Chemical Health Specialists complete student screenings and serve as resources for both parents and teachers about chemical health issues.

Assistant Principals are administrators responsible for facilitating the day-to-day requirements of the high school. They work to ensure the safety of students, as well as fulfillment of federal and state student and teacher performance guidelines. This leadership position includes interactions with students, teachers, other administrators, board members, and parents/guardians.

Grade Level Coordinators connect with students to address concerns and build success opportunities. They monitor and address attendance, grades and discipline. They are a presence in the hallways and a resource for students and staff. 

The Learning Lab is a place for all students to obtain academic support, guidance, and enrichment. Staff is available during school hours to assist with writing, math, AP, IB, conflict resolution and much more.

The Health Services Office at St. Louis Park High School has a Health Aide and a Licensed School Nurse. The Health Aide performs daily health related duties, dispenses daily medications and monitors students who visit the health office during the school day. The Licensed School Nurse (assigned to multiple buildings) provides support and assists in medical emergencies.
